张仪（张铮饰）作为秦国丞相，前来楚国是为了破坏东方六国的团结，倡导“连横”政策，以便秦国能够各个击破其他国家。虽然楚王（李清饰）听从了屈原（鲍方饰）的劝告，拒绝了张仪，但张仪却转而与南后郑袖（朱虹饰）合作，企图除掉屈原这一政治障碍。南后郑袖是个阴险狡诈的女人，她指使上官大夫靳尚加害屈原，并亲自出面陷害他。她故意在楚王进宫时假装头晕，扑倒在屈原怀里，并诬告屈原调戏她。楚王被激怒，罢免了屈原的官职。在南后的努力下，楚王接受了张仪的“连横”计划，与东方各国绝交，张仪因此成为楚国的座上宾。 在一次外出时，屈原遇到了南后和张仪，南后对他进行了戏弄。屈原感到愤怒和悲伤，公开斥责南后和张仪。楚王下令将屈原关进东皇太一庙。太卜郑詹收到女儿南后的密令，要将屈原毒死。屈原的侍女婵娟前来探望他，屈原不知酒中有毒，将毒酒送给婵娟。婵娟饮下毒酒后身亡，但为了替屈原受罪...。The 5×60 series, which has begun filming in Northern Ireland, is produced by Origin Pictures and is adapted by Fiona Seres.
