本片以是以东北洗浴文化为主题展开的一个故事。故事讲诉了生活在东北小镇的普普通通小人物搓澡师傅老伍不远千里赶往海南，帮助女儿和女婿管理原生态博鳌度假村。可当老伍到达海南后，女儿和女婿却对老伍爱答不理，似乎对老伍的到来有些不满。但老伍并没有将此事放在心上，他为了能让生意惨淡的度假村好起来，引发了一系列出人意料的而且充满喜感的事件，而在这个过程中，老伍化解了一个又一个突如其来的困难，同时也得到了女儿与女婿的认可，最终历经艰辛完成了护守家人和美丽环境的承诺。。Trevor is 'between jobs'.
