Set in the country-town of Upson Down, the comedy drama follows eleven-year-old Annie Shearer and her adopted stray dog Runt, as they try to save the family farm by competing in the Agility Course Grand。关系疏远的孪生姐弟玛吉和米勒在同一天自杀未遂。两人结伴回到儿时小镇，面对各自未解的心结。玛吉烦恼着她并不快乐的婚姻，米勒则要面对有过有过难忘回忆的前男友。姐弟的父亲曾经告诫他们不管发生什么都要在一起，也许这句话自有它的道理...。
