"Daughters of the Dust" tells the story of a family of African-Americans who have lived for many years on a Southern offshore island, and of how they come together one day in 1902 to celebrate their ancestors before some of them leave for the North. The film is narrated by an unborn child, and ancestors already dead also seem to be as present as the living.。影片发生在一家传统的钢琴厂，为了传承老一辈的钢琴制作技艺。邀请了记者跟拍工厂资深调音师的工作生活传记。拍摄期间女记者移情别恋抛弃男友并与资深调音师相处日久生情。调音师对亡妻怀有旧爱却难以承受一人生活的空虚，所以三人产生了多角恋爱关系及灵魂伦理发生了猛烈的碰撞，于是上演了一场凄美的虐恋爱情故事。。
