《那条河》主要通过年轻女孩许小苇丧母后寻父这条线，追述上个世纪六七十年代淠史杭工程修建时，一对年轻男女之间感人肺腑的爱情故事。许小苇是一名庐剧演员，但她一直觉得自己并不喜欢因母亲之愿而去学习的庐剧。一天，男友乔森因为家人反对他与单亲家庭的女孩恋爱而提出分手，让她伤心不已。之后，终于因为庐剧和母亲瞒着她独自前往乔森家求和，许小苇的情绪被引爆，她与母亲大吵一翻后夺门而出，却不想从此与母亲阴阳两隔。充满悔恨的许小苇在收拾母亲遗物时发现一个旧盒子，里面放着母亲珍藏的一张自己年轻时和一个男人合影的旧相片。一个又一个疑问浮出：这个男人是她的父亲吗？如果是，为何到现在自己都不曾见过他来寻找她们母女二人？当初他与母亲之间到底发生了什么？带着照片和这些疑问，许小苇踏上了追寻真相之路。。Starring David Walliams in a TV version of his own book, it tells the story of 12-year-old Joe who has everything he could ever want from his billionaire father Len except for a friend.
