He wants to make a film about women but he doesn’t reveal much: he observes them, takes cue, until his imaginary throw them into another era, in a past where the noise of the sewing machines fills a workplace handled and populated by women, where men have minor and marginal roles and cinema...。倪广生（郭峰 饰）和倪俊（周润发 饰）是大毒枭倪正（吴业光 饰）的两个儿子，前者系亲生，后者系收养。倪广生和倪俊在一次犯罪行动中马失前蹄，双双入狱，服刑前，倪正将所有家业交付给了为人正直果敢的倪俊打理，并嘱咐他老老实实经商，再也不要干违法的勾当。 倪俊遭人陷害，所幸得到了律师宋宣仪（湘漪 饰）和其养女董舜华（郑裕玲 饰）的帮助，最终洗清了冤屈，可是董舜华却也因此失去了一切。之后，倪俊雇佣了董舜华作为自己公司的法律顾问，两人日久生情，慢慢走到了一起。与此同时，倪广生刑满出狱，本来情同手足的兄弟两人因为家族产业而大打出手。。
