1918年，旅俄华侨戴志远与父亲安排的俄国姑娘莉莉娅举行订婚仪式，遭日本军袭击，只身逃回黑河。顾淑媛爱上了他，他却心仪青梅竹马的同学林茵。林茵为掩护革命青年赴俄， 重伤落江。日本人占领黑河，戴志远奋起反抗，家业被毁，逃到俄罗斯。抗战胜利后，戴志远回到黑河。林茵和儿子林远方回到黑河领导对敌斗争。土匪首领欲杀害戴志远时，林远方挺身相救而死。戴志远与林茵相见，得知为他死去的是自己的亲生儿子。全剧反映了时代变迁下人物命运的悲欢离合。。Following the success of its 2023 series, the critically-acclaimed hit drama Shetland has been recommissioned by the BBC for two new series.
