本片由以《天下第一拳》扬威国际市场的导演郑昌和自编自导。晚唐昭宗时代，藩镇割据，镇国公李明（尹一峰）恃强作恶，鱼肉百姓，「追魂琵琶」穆俊杰（凌云）联同六刺客，订下剌杀李明的计划。穆手持六个头骨骷髅拜会李明，令李明以为心腹大患已除，再密谋行刺……导演郑昌和处理古装武侠片另有一手，本片最后一场李明在甘露河渡口避雨，穆俊杰率众夹击，大雨滂沱中，刀光剑影，血溅飞沙，是武侠电影的经典场面。值得一提的是，新人李丽丽演女侠孙美贞，光芒四射，奠定新一代武侠女星地位。。Three loosely connected love stories.
