影片以民国时期声色犬马的大上海为背景，讲述了上海滩大佬金广荣（吕良伟饰），为争夺“七大码头”的控制权，与以内山正彦（任思齐饰）为首的日本商会、码头工人等多种势力之间，纷争不断的“赛马”故事。。本片根據約翰修斯的小說改編而成，敘述3個高中新生在入學第一天就飽受校園惡霸欺負，為了不讓將來的日子越來越難過，他們在「軍人榮光」雜誌中刊登廣告，希望顧到一名保鏢。沒想到來應徵的是崔比，他以海灘為家、收費低廉，而他將為3個小老闆帶來前所未有的震撼教育。。Babli (Ranbir Kapoor) is a street smart car mechanic living in a Delhi orphanage.
